OHCC SEASON PREVIEW
2007 SEASON PREVIEW
The Hill will be keen to challenge for the First Division Title having stormed to promotion last year, they have retained the bulk of the championship winning time with a couple of tasty additions, the return of Des Hesslewood is much anticipated by the Saturday Skipper, his runs and wickets are sure to be crucial in the tough first Division, Matt Champan look a handy player last year and hopefully he will be available on a regular basis to add a touch more quatily to the the team. Luke Edwards is going to be playing Sunday games only and I would strongly advise you watch this boy play, only 18 years of age but a very special talent.
Of course the club would not be the same without the two northerners Spitz deservedly retains the captaincy and his slot as premier all rounder ( Sorry Rich) and Kitch will be looking to retain his position at the top of the averages although the Duke may having something to say about this, For anyone who wants to learn how to build an innings look at Kitch, Trawber will be hoping to revive his 2005 award winning season after a disappointing year last season because of alcohol addiction. Matt Jee will be looking to fufil his immense potential. On the Sunday front it is guaranteed that the likes of Luke Palmer, Ben West, Richie Bowers and Mark Cobby will continue to pound the ball to all parts of the ground, we will also as ever be looking for valuable contributions down the order from players like Neil " The Salmon" Overington.
On the Bowling front the One the Only Daniel Bishop will be looking to recreate his hat trick exploits of a few years ago, Spitz will always take wickets with pace and accuracy and Trawber will be a danger, last years leading wicket taker in the league Mad Dog will be looking to carry on his rich vein of form, and Richie Bowers will continue to show why he played for Surrey 2's a few years back, also the rumour is that in the nets the duke has been spinning the ball many feet and is a real prospect in the spin department this year.
All in all the Hill are looking forward to another challenging and productive year, without doubt it will be enjoyed by all.
Hope you have wintered well
